Our
car has been making a funny hot smell for the past couple of weeks but we were
getting no alarms and the gauges showed A-OK, but since the campground was only
a mile from a Buick dealer and it was under warranty, we decided to take it by
resulting in a nice down day for us and they fixed the problem.
Since
we did nothing on Tue, Wed got a little busier as we went out for breakfast at
a place called Café 13 in downtown Golden and while it got high reviews (mostly
as a stop for coffee and pastries), we were disappointed with our meals. Oh well you can’t win them all.
After
that, I left the girls in downtown for some shopping while I headed back to the
RV to do a little planning for the next day’s drive to Kansas. Golden looks like a nice little town and is
home to the Coor’s Brewery and the Colorado School of Mines.
That
evening we went to Pino’s Pizzeria so Lea Ann’s Goddaughter, Stephanie, could show off her server skills to
us. When the owner speaks broken
English, you know you’re in a real Italian place. We only got this one selfie with our
neighbor horning into the shot.
The
food and wine we consumed were all very good and Stephanie did an excellent job
taking care of us. Since it was the
night before departure, by late afternoon, I found myself regretting the agreement
to go but as is nearly always the case, I had a great time and hated when the
evening came to an end. Thanks to all
for another fantastic visit to Denver - I think we'll be back.

Have
a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

Nice to get your car fixed and then enjoy a real Italian restaurant, sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of all of you together. Everyone has big smiles. I would hate to leave too...

It is rumored that Lea Ann once met Elway. Did you know Elway has a line of furniture? I think it is called the "Bucktoothed Collection".
ReplyDeleteGotta love those photo bombers. We've never been to Golden but have talked to folks who really enjoyed their time there. Safe travels onto Kansas.
ReplyDeleteLarry, I like it! Friends from coast to coast... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are having such a wonderful trip Larry!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a plus to find a handy and cooperative car dealer; glad you were able to get your problem fixed. It's nice that Bev has shopping company, so you can do the important stuff like plan the shortcut through Kansas. (I used that line along about 1993, when the kids were whining about how big Kansas is. I told them it was the shortcut to Peoria.)
ReplyDeleteThat 'welcome' sign is STILL THERE! Love Golden, CO and the brewery . . . especially the free samples at the end of the tour!
ReplyDeleteWow I haven't been to Golden in years. I used to live in Littleton - and loved the area. Safe travels - glad they fixed your car. Bonus!
ReplyDeleteAnother great time! I'd be exhausted too :)
