Our RV club has been the Tennessee Travelers Chapter of FMCA (Family Motor Coach Assoc) but this summer we decided to dis-affiliate with FMCA and just be a group of friends who like to travel together. So, our last official chapter event was a Christmas lunch at the Chop House in Knoxville attended by 13 members – here we are around the tree.
The Chop House did a fine job taking care of us and I believe everyone liked their food.
I’m trying (again) to lose some weight so I just had a very good chicken Caesar salad and only ate half of the huge offering.
A few days later, we took the dogs to the groomer in
Madisonville and Bev suggested we have lunch at the Lamp Post Restaurant. From a DDD standpoint, it’s more of a diner
but approaching a dive.
It’s a meat and three kind of place that serves good basic food at a very reasonable price - $9 for each of our meals. Bev had the meatloaf with slaw and macaroni salad.
And I had the country steak with mashed potatoes and white beans.
I look forward to going back for breakfast as I love these kind of places for my favorite meal.
I made up a big batch of posole the other day to use some
pulled pork I’d discovered in the freezer and as you know I like hearty soups
and this one was.
Photos can be slightly enlarged by clicking on them and the blue words are links.
Have a great day
and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you, and your family.
Merry Christmas..,Dick & Marge..
ReplyDeleteI know better than to come here hungry! All of the meals look so tasty to me.
ReplyDeleteA warming bowl of pazole is perfect winter weather food. Karen (Back Road Journal)
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Larry, that group of people looks like they might be trouble-makers! Gotta watch out for them! Lol :-D. All kidding aside, it's awesome that Bev and you have such a wide circle of like-minded and spirited friends. Those breakfast photos are pretty enticing! I'd never loose weight with hearty breakfasts. We love 'em too!
ReplyDeleteJust retired from higher education this week and hoping to cook and travel more.
Merry Christmas to both of you,
Roz
All the meals look good, even that healthy Caesar salad. Now I'm craving posole. Haven't made it in awhile.
ReplyDeleteThat posole looks awesome, and the Chop House sounds amazing. A good lunch at a nice restaurant with friends is one of my favorite Christmas activities. We actually have a group of fellow carpet cleaning friends gathering this Saturday at a new joint in Santa Clarita. Hopefully we have as much fun as you and your RV friends.
ReplyDeleteHi Larry, Out for lunch and a bit up-scale too! Salad looked good and I'm glad that you're watching your diet. I'm watching mine too and have managed not to gain any weight...but haven't lost any either. Laurie on the other hand has dropped 30 lbs! As you know, we love local restaurants. Prices are right at The Lamp Post, that's for sure. We've done breakfast there but we haven't tried it for dinner for a long time...we're past due. That Posole looks good...soup and salads are now Laurie's go to items in many restaurants we visit. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
