Our Annual Trip To Marco Island, FL – Village Brewhouse And Flight To Home Sweet Home

My girls go to Marco Island each year for three weeks and I went the first week this year to help with the drive down then I flew home on after a week.  My suitcase stayed in Marco and I used an old Lands End bag to bring home my important stuff so it contained my laptop, charger, and mouse; my hearing aid charger; my phone charger; a container of pills; my sandals; and I was able to cram in my coffee cup.  I can only imagine what the TSA screener thought of my unusual collection.

Before going to the airport, we went to Punta Gorda’s Fisherman’s Village for lunch.  The village is a pretty long wharf full of shops and with several restaurants.  They are getting ready for Christmas.

We opted for the Village Brewhouse as it was the first place we came to and the girls had not eaten there before – Fisherman’s Village, for lunch and shopping, is a frequent stop for them when they pick-up/drop-off folks at the airport just a few miles away.  They have both indoor and outdoor seating.

We chose indoor at a table by a window with a nice view.

For our meals, Pat had the "Mahi Tacos - Your choice of grilled or blackened mahi with shredded cabbage, spicy mustard, and slaw dressing, $19."

Bev had the "Hand Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwich - Our famous giant hand breaded and deep-fried tenderloin served on a toasted brioche bun. $17."

I had the "Greek Falafel Salad - A bed of fresh spring mix layered with roma tomatoes, slice cucumber, diced red onion, and crumbled feta, topped with crispy fried falafel balls, served with a side of roasted red pepper vinaigrette dressing, $16."

The meals were all okay but not great and Bev’s meat was way over cooked - we each ate half of our food.  I would eat somewhere else next time.

It’s been many years since I last flew and I don’t do much with my phone so I had to go to the desk and get a paper boarding pass then I got to go thru security without removing my shoes – not many advantages of being old.  Then, of course, our plane was 45 minutes late, which is one of the reasons I don’t fly.  We finally made it to Knoxville and Cindy and the pups picked me up - the little guys were very excited to see me.  While it was nice to spend the time with Bev and our neighbors and eat some good seafood, I still prefer just staying at home where my chair is comfortable, our bed doesn’t hurt my back, and I have the pups for company.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.
