FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS
WE WISH YOU
We have a 7' Balsam Hill artificial tree and this is Bev seeing if there is a vacant branch on which she can hang yet another ornament.
And now all done.
If we had a fire, it would look like this shot from the web.
It the 50's, our tree looked like this one from the web and my mom added the aluminum foil icicles one at a time then removed them one at a time for use the next year. I even had an American Flyer train like this one that we put around the tree.
Then in the 60's we had one of these that came with a remote light with a rotating multicolored disk that caused the tree to change colors. It looked similar to a rotating floor fan.
Watching it be cut.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven

What a sweet trip down your Christmas memory lane, Larry! I remember the aluminum foil icicles. Some of us would meticulously hang them in place and then there were other siblings that would just throw them on the tree and they would just fall anywhere. But they always look nice. That is one big 9 foot tree that you cut down for the love of your grandchildren. Wow.! Have a blessed Christmas and a joyful new year.
ReplyDeleteNice memories 🎄
ReplyDeleteLove all of the Christmas tree memories, many of which I share. I wish I still had my parent's aluminum tree with that color disc. Merry Christmas to you, Bev and Pat. Your current tree is beautiful and I hope it gets cold enough there to light a fire.
ReplyDeleteWishing you guys the Merriest Christmas ever!!! Enjoy having your family home. Hope to see you soon. Sandy & Louie
ReplyDeleteYou trees remind me so much of some of mine from the past. Great memories. Have a blessed Christmas.

Having served as Root Dip Girl for the planting of those trees, it was always gratifying to see how well they grew. It was definitely the end of an era when you harvested the final tree. We're artificial tree folks here for many reasons. I've been looking at the Balsam Hill line for our next tree since our youngest option here is about 18 years old. I'll be interested to see yours close up. I'm with Beverly, though. It's not possible to have too many lights or too many ornaments on a tree. We're using gold beads in lieu of tinsel because we've also got a paper chain that Eliza adds to each year and signs the last link. Last year we also did popcorn strands, but Eliza voted no on that for this year. We also love having the train around the tree. Eliza was thrilled when I got it set up while she was at school. Merry Christmas! See you soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Larry, Of course when I was a kid, all the trees were real. I don't recall ever going out and cutting one down though. I was the lazy one when it came to tinsel...just tossing it on the tree. I did have a train one Christmas too...back when I was in the first grade. I have a photo of that memory. These days, no little kids, not much motivation to get a big tree and put it up. We did buy a small pre-lit tree this year to replace one whose lights stopped working. HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your past and present trees! Merry Christmas to you, Bev and your family!
ReplyDeleteMade me smile in my heart!! Most memorable will always be our Christmas trees, our family of the past. Love sitting in my chair next to Bev dreamily gazing at the beautiful tree. I’m so very blessed.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all. Cindy B
BEAUTIFUL!!! Merry Christmas and Healthy Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI've had one of all your different trees as well. The aluminum ones are real collector items now. Meryy Christmas to all. Karen (Back Road Journal)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees over the years!!! I grew up with a neat old fake tree and we always put a ton of tinsel on it. We get real trees now to support our local Christmas Tree farms here in Oregon and they always smell so good.
