After waiting all winter (we weren’t going anywhere anyway), the local diesel shop finally repaired the leaking seal on our coach engine and it is now hopefully good to go – the only problem is Bev refuses to go anywhere in it having totally lost confidence in the RV’s ability to reliably get us to our destination. At this point, we have several repairs to make so we can put it on the market and which point we are likely to get out of RVing.
Even though our RV club is holding a rally in one of our favorite places (Pensacola, FL) in May, we will be going in the car and staying in a motel while Pat watches the pups at home. We'll still take a big cooler and stop by Joe Patti's Seafood.
One of the coach repairs required making a 40 mile drive to Seymour, TN to go to a machine shop and we decided to have a late lunch at the Seymour Grille near where we had to go. We had eaten in this building many years ago when it was a really good Italian place name Willie’s.
Since we had no leftovers
for that days supper we decided to order full meals plus an appetizer of hand
breaded onion rings – Bev loves them when they are done in house.
They were very good and since they don’t reheat very well we ate them all and, as a result, we were both full when the meals came. Bev ordered the country fried steak (same as chicken fried) with okra and mac & cheese.
She had a bite of everything and said the meat and mac were both very good – the okra was the standard frozen version served in most restaurants.
I had the fried catfish with slaw and pinto beans and like Bev just had a couple of bites before requesting a box.
The fish was good but not in the same league with Countryside, the slaw was creamy and I liked the dressing, but the beans were just bland cooked beans with little to no seasoning in them – not nearly as good as Angie’s cooked with ham hock’s, onions, etc.
Our server was excellent and all-in-all, it was a decent
dining experience and if in the area, I’d eat there again.
Oh, and did I mention, the meal is started with a basket of
popcorn.

Glad you're able to get your vacationing started again. I wished I had like our RV but two times out and found camping isn't for me. Enjoy your next journey!

ReplyDeleteHi Larry, Sorry to hear about the end of your RVing adventures...at least in an RV. You will probably save a ton of money with the change but part of the experience will be blunted. Thanks for the review of the Seymour Grille. It sounds like a decent place to eat but not the 'destination dining' that Willie's used to provide. We loved Willie's but it was over an hours drive to get there from our place. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the coach, but seems like it took you on a fair amount of great travel adventures. I've never seen a restaurant server popcorn before a meal. One of my top favorite foods.

ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about you having to give up the coach. My wife, Ms.Goofy all of a sudden decided she did not like to go camping any more. I do miss camping.
