While
the Tennessee Travelers Rally in Stone Mountain had one more day to go, we bid
farewell to the group and headed for Sevierville, TN so we could be there for
the first day of our first ever Thor Rally.
Our Tuscany (coach) is made by Thor and we have been wanting to attend
one of their rallies to meet and talk with other coach owners, but it has never
worked out for us until now. The five
hour drive from Stone Mountain to Sevierville, Tn was thankfully uneventful and
we arrived at River Plantation RV Resort around 2:30, got set up, and checked in for the rally.
As
with the place in Pine Mountain, I would not call this an RV Resort but it is a
nice campground. Here are some shots of
the campground and our site #166.
We
had stayed at River Plantation on the shakedown trip with
our coach when it was new and had a spot on the river for that visit.
The
Thor Diesel Club is made up of owners of the various diesel pusher motor
coaches that Thor has manufactured and it includes the four models now in
production and one that is no longer being produced. The club hosts rallies around the country each
year then the big one in Goshen, IN each October which is near the factory. I’m not sure how many coaches are in the club
but there are about 70 at this rally with folks from as far away as Texas and
South Dakota.
For
the rally fee, the club provides breakfast, happy hour, and supper each day and
arranged for five different activities during the week. We see this as an opportunity to learn from
other owners as well as the Thor and Freightliner reps who are here.

Have
a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

Enjoy your time at this Rally, maybe you will be going home in a 2016 model?
ReplyDeleteLarry, The good news is that your drive back to Sevierville was uneventful, always a challenge when passing through the Atlanta area! Sounds like the RV equivalent of a Corvette rally... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteWell, when you travel with your own 5-star luxury suite, how much more "resort" do you need? It's very picturesque, and having a tree right next to you is nice.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! And enjoy the event.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a nice site. Have a great time!
