After a good nights sleep, on Saturday, mid-morning, our very nice hostess, and owner, Sabrina retrieved our car from the parking garage, helped us load up and sent us on our way. This is a shot of the owner, Sabrina, on the right and her right hand girl, Rita.
So, we got checked into the Sheraton hotel okay and while
Bev took a nap, I went down to the nearly empty bar for a couple of beers and
an interesting conversation with the server who was from Peru.
While there, a flight crew from Qatar airlines was assembling and they all looked like this (compare to US flight attendants).
After Rhett advised that he had a great pasta carbonara when staying here, I was really looking forward to supper but it wasn’t on the menu so he must have stayed in building one and we were in building two. The restaurant was, not suprisingly, pretty empty when we got there at 7pm and we began our meal with a bottle of prosecco to go with the bread and tastes of octopus salad.
For our appetizer we shared a seafood panzanella salad which was outstanding.
Bev ordered a beef filet and I ordered sesame seed crusted swordfish as our entrees.
The server seemed to have trouble with understanding medium rare and the meat came medium well but Bev just soaked it in the good olive oil and ate it. Her potatoes were very good. My fish was cooked right but it didn’t have flavors that I enjoyed so I have to say this was our worst meal while in Italy.
On Sunday, we gathered up Wende at the Rome airport and headed south for the 3-4 hour drive to Sorrento. Traffic was normal until we got to Naples then it was heavy to Sorrento with stop and go as we got close and we drove thru the longest tunnel I’ve ever been it, measured in miles long. Here are some shots Wende took along the way but blocked by the railing and wall. The water is the bay of Naples and Sorrento is to the left.
Tune in next time for the remainder of day 22.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven

Hi Larry, Well...those meals at least looked good! Local food in the right setting wins again... As for the flight attendants, I'm guessing that immaculately dressed hot babes are the rule and they probably can't be too old either. I doubt that any of them are from Qatar...otherwise they'd be covered up. I do remember the 'good old days' on US airlines. At least they were good old days for the guys, not so good for the ladies. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad you didn't love the meal. The drive to Sorrento looks beautiful!
