Even
though we bought really good carpeting for our home when we built it, after 25
years, it has finally had-it in the high traffic areas and we decided to
replace it with a laminate floating floor.
We considered replacing the tile at the same time but after thinking
about the end result and the much higher cost, we opted to just replace the
carpeting in the living and dining rooms.
I can’t believe I waited until the living room was about done before
thinking I should take some shots but I had these two of the pre-start room
shots on hand.
We
began a couple of days early by clearing all of the breakables from around the
two rooms but little did we know that it was not required because rather than
clearing everything from the rooms to begin they just moved (slid) the furniture
around as they went.
However,
our effort did accomplish two things, it made it lighter for them to move and,
very importantly, it forced us to touch all of that STUFF and make some decisions
on which we wanted to actually have in the two rooms – Bev is now going
shopping for new non-seating furniture (tables, etc) and she’ll finally be able
to use the area rugs that she has had for many years. Here are a couple of shots but our house is
still in major disarray.
And
now for the big surprise news. When
granddaughter Katelyn and her boyfriend Tyler were here for an August visit
they went for a drive in the mountains a little south of here, including a stop
at Bald River Falls. As it turned out
Tyler had been carrying a ring around in his pocket for a while waiting for the
right moment to pop the question and the falls were just too pretty to pass
up. They kept it a secret until they
told their family’s but this explains why they made a wrong turn on the way home
in Tellico Plains and ended up 25 miles in the wrong direction from home in
Turtletown, TN - not far from GA 😊

Amazing what flooring all new facelift does for a room, this is wonderful color it really looks elegant!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and a good reason to look at what you have on the shelves.
ReplyDeleteLove your new flooring a similar colour to what we installed in our motorhome a couple of years ago, removing a similar coloured carpet as well. So much easier to care for.
ReplyDeleteThe new flooring looks really nice. Congrats to your granddaughter!!!
ReplyDeleteLarry, Wow! Big change for your home after all of these years! Maintenance will be so much easier and the rooms are brighter too... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave and Laurie
ReplyDeleteI'd like to change out the carpet on our upper level to laminate. You've inspired me. :) It just seems like such a big project. I bet you're so glad you made the switch. And congrats on that engagement. :)
