Three Stop RV Rally – Day 6 – Savannah - Melody's

Our plan for the first day with our club was to go back to Pauls Deen’s Creekhouse Seafood & Grill then drive on out to Tybee Island but with a couple of events happening on the island, there was lots of traffic clear back to the campground so I knew it would take a long time to get to the restaurant and nearly impossible to get to the island.  So we made a u-turn and headed south to the town of Richmond Hill and Melody’s Coastal Café.

Melody’s is your classic home town restaurant frequented by the locals  - my kind of dive, well higher than a dive.  We had a friendly and efficient server, even more so after discovering we were from East Tennessee as she was.

For our meals, I had the shrimp and grits mostly due to the description -"House-made cheddar cheese grits with Andouille sausage, topped with our burgundy mushroom gravy, scallions, and blackened shrimp."  The others in our group had a variety of meals and all but one was a big hit.  Bev loved her oysters and shrimp and thought the Corn and Green Chili Stuffed Hush Puppies were maybe the best ever.

From Melody’s we went back to the Savannah River St. for a little looking around and a couple of cold drinks at the Cotton Exchange Tavern - Here's Louie enjoying his Bloody Mary.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  3. That's one dressed-up drink right there! I'd rather eat at the local spot than go where the tourists are any day, and since all but one dinner were big hits, it looks like you chose the right place!
