I picked this up from an RV forum and had to post it.
The tribal wisdom of the Lakota Sioux, passed on from generation to generation, says that, "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount."
However, in government, education, and corporate America, more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.
5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.
7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase dead horses performance.
10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.
12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.
13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position (I love this one)

ReplyDeleteSounds familiar, all great points.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first glanced and saw "RV" and "dead horse", I was afraid your home on wheels and konked out. Glad I was mistaken!
I love this list! All the more reason to vote in the off years (next Tuesday for me).
ReplyDeleteWooooo---I picked an interesting non-food post to come back to today, didn't I????
ReplyDeleteSO TRUE... We Americans just keep lowering our standards --about everything it seems. I'm afraid that the good ole patriotic country with hard-working Americans in it is now a figment of our imaginations... What a shame for US!!!!
If you need a good hospital in Knoxville, I recommend Parkwest... Excellent!!!
Am feeling better --thanks be to God.

ReplyDeleteI love you posted last year and the year before too!
Larry, Thanks for imparting the wisdom of the Lakota Sioux... I've seen most of the alternative solutions employed first hand, much to my frustration! This little 'allegory' will be circulated... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
