First Watch With Cindy and The Predator Hawk

Just as with friend, Kathy, I gave Cindy free lunches for her Christmas present and for her first one she chose First Watch in Maryville .  First watch is a 600+ restaurant chain headquartered in Bradenton, FL and Cindy has been there many times and since I had been wanting to try it, I was pleased with her choice.

We got to the restaurant at 11:15 and it was about half full so we were seated immediately and here are the girls.

One of the things I like is that both breakfast and lunch are served at all times – they just do those two meals – and we all opted for breakfast food but started with a Bloody Mary.

Cindy ordered her usual Eggs Benedict – “Two poached cage-free eggs atop toasted ciabatta piled high with smoked ham and vine-ripened tomato and covered with hollandaise. Served with lemon-dressed organic mixed greens.”

Bev opted for the Chickichanga - "Whipped cage-free eggs with spicy, all-natural chicken breast, chorizo, green chiles, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla. Topped with Vera Cruz sauce and all-natural sour cream. Served with fresh, seasoned potatoes."

After studying the menu on line at home and seeing several things I might normally get, I decided to try something I’d never had before and ordered, Chimichurri Steak & Eggs Hash - "Seared steak, fresh spinach, Cheddar and Monterey Jack, diced red bell peppers and house-roasted onions in a potato hash, topped with two cage-free eggs any style, crumbled Feta cheese, house-pickled sweet peppers, roasted garlic aioli and a drizzle of chimichurri sauce."

The Verdict:

The restaurant atmosphere was somewhat industrial but still very nice and we had great service.  Everyone thought their food was very good and I really enjoyed my unique dish and will go back to First Watch and would order the same dish.

The Hawk

A Sharpe-shinned Hawk has decided our bird feeders are a buffet for it to enjoy and it even sits on the railing.

This is what it looks like for the web.

I can’t decide what to do about it and Bev’s solution is to shoot it but I can’t do that so we will try to keep it scared off.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.
