While
sitting around the campfire, someone suggested we should have a get together
for the whole campground and a quick plan was developed, arrangements were made, and invites were handed out.
We
labeled it a pot luck supper with music with the intention of holding it
outside at the Tiki-Hut but the weather forced us into the club house.
We didn’t make any suggestions as to what to bring and ended up with a near perfect distribution of appetizer, soup, three meats, side dishes, and dessert. I just told those who asked to bring whatever they wanted and if we ended up with all side dishes we’d just eat that.
As
it turned out, we had about three quarts of my pulled pork in the freezer to
which we added slaw and buns for sliders and I grilled up some wings and tossed
in my go-to sauce for an appetizer. I
got no food shots but here are some of the event, provided by Dave Ward who is
a professional photographer (and lives about 30 miles from us in TN).
Once
again, the classic country was provided by professional musician, Gabe McNeil,
who subbed his keyboard for the campfire guitar for this event and a few folks took advantage of it for a little dancing.
The food, the music, and the visiting were all outstanding and all but a few of the campers attended.
Personally I loved it and sported a grin most of the evening.

Impromptu is sometimes the very best.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteLarry, Looks like ya'll had a good time! As for me, I'd be down by that pond or canal with a fishing rod. I'm sure that there's something in there other than alligators... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time, Larry. I haven't been to a good pot luck in ages. And it's been way too long since I've seen a palm tree.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm watching the Big Super Bowl game AND the commercials with one eye --and blogging with the other. The lady who sang the National Anthem was AWESOME, best I've heard that song sung in YEARS... Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful.. What fun you all must have had. What a great thing to do with others in the RV park... Love it.
Hugs,
Betsy
