Lunch And Supper Out For My Two Live-In Girls And Mount Lafon

Our neighbors house is at the top of a hill and even though it's only 110 feet above our place I like to call it Mount Lafon and her is a shot of the Smokies from there in the early morning.

I decided to take my two girls out for lunch and since we needed to make a trip to Madisonville, we made it a four-stop errand run.  We went just south of town to drop off some donations to the Good Shepherd Center of stuff we removed from the RV.  Then we started back toward home with the next stop at The Patio Italian Restaurant where we were the first customers for lunch vs. waiting in line at our last visit.

We began with an order of onion rings which, as frozen and not fresh breaded, were not in the same universe as these below from Lakeside Tavern.

For our meals, Cindy went with “Atlantic Salmon- $16.00 - Atlantic Salmon Grilled or Blackened on a Bed of Seasoned Rice Served with Mixed Vegetables."  She said it was okay but the salmon was overcooked which is pretty common for this area – Bev would have said it was just right.

Bev ordered an 18” pizza to have leftovers for breakfast - "Patio Special - $18.99 - Cheese, Beef, Pepperoni, Sausage, Onions, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Black Olives, Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese.”  She thought it was very tasty but the bottom crust wasn’t as crispy as it should have been.

Since I also wanted leftovers, I ordered a half Greek salad and the “Tour of Italy - $17.00 - Chicken Parmesan, Fettuccini Alfredo, and Lasagna."

After onion rings and salad, I only ate a couple bites of each of my entrée items which were all very good.  I took the leftovers home then ate only half of them for supper so this will be a three-meal lunch.

From the restaurant, we dropped the dogs off at the groomer, picked up some meds for Teddy at the vets then headed for the house for a nice little outing on a cold (32F) fall day - back to 70F on Sat.

A couple of days later, Bev wanted to go out to the local Mexican restaurant, Cielito Lindo, the evening before she left for her annual three-week trip to our timeshare at Marco Island, FL.  We had the usual chips and salsa and shared a pitcher of margaritas followed by our meals.

Cindy had the “Taco Salad - $10.45 - A crispy flour tortilla shell with your choice of Ground Beef or Shredded Chicken. Filled with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, refried beans, and white cheese sauce.”

Bev had the a taco and burrito from the “Combinaciones Mexicanas - Combination Dinners - $11.80 - Served with Mexican rice and refried beans, choice of Ground Beef or Shredded Chicken | Taco, Burrito, Enchilada, Tostada, Tamale, Chile Relleno.”

And I Had "Carnitas Michoacan - $14.25 - Tender slices of pork served with Mexican rice, refried beans, pico de gallo, avocado slices, jalapenos, and tortillas."

We all enjoyed our meals (and the margaritas) and it was a nice little outing for the three of us.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. Looks like a hearty lunch; your pizza was soggy on the bottom because it's too overloaded with toppings which require longer baking time in the oven. Happens all the time with our delivery orders of pizza. Happy Thanksgiving in Tennessee!

  2. The meals all look terrific, although overcooked salmon is a bummer. I suddenly have a craving for Mexican food!
