I’ve mentioned this in previous post but due to scheduling issues, it took nine months for me to give good friend, Kathy, her Christmas present of five free lunches but we final made it to the last one – I hope to do better next year. At the suggestion of neighbor, Steve, I decided to make this outing more special than just driving to a local restaurant, so we picked the date and rode the pontoon boat down the lake to the Tellico Village Yacht Club. Tellico Village is a large 5000 acre retirement community stretching several miles along the west side of Tellico Lake.
SIL, Pat also joined us for our lunch excursion and here we
are starting out of our cove.
As you can see, it was a beautiful day with a blue sky and 70F temperature to start. Shot taken thru the open windows on our plastic main area enclosure.
It’s about a 30 minute ride to make the approximately six mile trip and here we are tied up at the yacht club.
We were early and the place only had a few customers so we got a window table with a great view.
We began with a bottle of "Casas del Mar | Blanc de Blancs | Spain - Aromas of toasted brioche with hint of apples and apricots to the palate, finishing with elegant notes of citrus." Since the Italy trip, we enjoy a glass of bubbly before lunch or supper.
Bev and Pat each had the "Smoked Meatloaf, served with
demi-glace, garlic whipped mashed potatoes, French green beans, and crispy
tobacco onions - $16."
Kathy had the "Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, house-made shaved prime rib, caramelized onions, and Cooper sharp cheese - $14."
I had the" French Dip, house-roasted prime rib, melted Swiss cheese, and au jus for dipping. Served with French fries - $15."
Everyone enjoyed their meals which were all very good and
reasonably priced for such an fancy place and location.
Then the girls decided to share a dessert and chose "Chocolate
Ganache Bundt Cake - Moist, dark chocolate cake, filled with a dark chocolate
truffle. Served with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream."
It was pretty awesome.
We had a nice, but much warmer, ride back up the lake with
a view on the Smoky Mountains in the distance.
Here we are approaching our dock with the new, hard to miss new orange ladder.
All-in-all a very nice three hour event with good food, good company and wonderful early Oct weather and we already have our next restaurant picked out.

Have a
great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

ReplyDeleteI think your Christmas gift idea is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteNow that's how you go to a restaurant! What a fun day with gorgeous weather & views, and some really tasty looking food!
ReplyDeleteHi Larry, Nice outing and love your means of transportation... Very nice to hear positives about the Yacht Club Restaurant! Not too long ago we stopped at the Yacht Club's bar for refreshments and appetizers only to discover that the appetizer menu was almost non-existent. Without ordering lunch there was nothing I could or would eat so they sold me a glass of lemonade. I could go for that French Dip sandwich for sure. Take Care, Dave
ReplyDeleteFun trip I'm sure
