Day 3 started off pretty cloudy as we may be getting some impact from hurricane Paula down in the Carribbean.
To say we were surprised by the extensiveness of the menu is a big understatement - the selection was fabulous and we hoped it was as good. Bev had Crab Cakes Benedict which was English muffins, topped with crab cakes, poached eggs, and Hollandaise sauce and sided with hash browns.
Pat's was called Tumbleweed Pasta and was scrambled eggs, topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes, then topped with angel hair pasta and two cheeses.
Mine was called the Skillet Scramble and was home fries, onions, peppers, and mushrooms, topped with scrambled eggs and Hollandaise, and sided with toast - rye in my case.

All I can say is I terribly regret it took us so long to find this place as the meals were all great - it was almost make-you-want-to-slap-yo-mama good. Everything was homemade including the bread, which was outstanding. As I was commenting to the cashier about how good it was, she said if you liked breakfast, just wait until you try our lunches - they even make their own corned beef and the icing on the cake is they serve breakfast all day. Since Bev and Pat prefer lunch fare and I like breakfast food, we can go anytime between 11am and 2pm and satisfy everyone. This is definitely my new favorite breakfast place on Marco, likely in Florida, and perhaps the southeastern U.S. and I can just imagine all of the great meals I've missed over the years, but plan to make up for it now. It reminded me of one of those Diners, Drive-ins and Dives places with the culinary school trained French chef turing out gourmet grub. I'd send it in to DDD, but it would just make it more crowded.

How fun to find a great little restaurant like that. I think that pasta thing looks really interesting and good. Now go take a walk on the beach so you can work up an appetite and go back for lunch!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I'm drooling from afar! Bev's choice looks incredible - I like eggs benedict but mine would be without the crabcake (shellfish and Mickle don't mix too well) - Bev's hashbrown was a side? It all looks truely magnificent !

ReplyDeleteSounds like a hidden treasure. I rarely make elaborate breakfasts and so when I go out for brunch I really go all out. this place looks perfect for that! Glad you discovered it.
ReplyDeleteThree superb breakfasts, I'd go with the tumbleweed one, I think. It just sounds so good and filling. But I'd hit hot sauce on that one too, just because hot sauce rocks!
