Blogger Party Details

Chris & Alexis and Bev & I got together Sunday for lunch and a planning session on the dock at Almost Heaven South.  Bev and Sweetie - a little pre-meal relaxing.

We had a BLT using Benton’s bacon, our garden lettuce, a pretty decent locally grown tomato, ans fresh homemade bread; and Spring Salad withStrawberries and Balsamic Vinaigrette courtesy of Roz at La Bella Vita.

Let’s eat.

So here’s the party plan.  It will happen on June 19 come rain, shine, storm, or – well maybe not tornado – we’ll just move to the house if the weather dictates.

We’ll eat between 1:00 & 2:00pm and have enough food for supper leftovers for any who stay later and get hungry.  You can plan to show up any time after 11am – Chris and I will have been cooking several hours by then.

The menu, which we hope to be as close to Texas BBQ as possible, plus fajitas will be:
Beef ribs
Brisket
Sausage
Turkey breast
Pork ribs (for the non-Texans)
Fajitas
Texas beans
Southwestern corn
Slaw
Sliced white bread
Desserts

From an activities standpoint, we plan to enlist help from you to provide photo lessons (bring you cameras) and a fajita cooking demo and we’ll have a little game for a door prize.

The jet ski is in the shop and will hopefully be back by then and an evening pontoon boat ride could probably be arranged.

More specific info will be going out to the attendees via email.
All photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  3. Larry, THANK YOU so much for letting me know what Bev and you thought about the salad and vinaigrette! So many bloggers "say" that they'll either make something or have made something and then rarely let us know their reactions. Sometimes, I'm left thinking that maybe I have odd flavor tastes! I really do thank you for your blog friendship and am so sorry that we'll miss this wonderful party of yours. Can't wait to see the pictures and recipes! Our weekend up at Lake Norris, TN was just paradise! I can completely see why Bev and you named your place "Almost Heaven"!

  5. Being Texan, I can't tell you what an appropriate date "June Teenth" is . . . if you don't know about this holiday, you should Google it. Also, there'd better be watermelon if you want to be authentic. ;) (and I have always preferred pork ribs)

Take a ton of pictures and a video if you can squeeze it in.
