Bev wanted to go out for a hamburger for Sunday early supper and we decided to give the newly opened Victory Bar And Grill a try. It is supposedly owned by the same folks as our favorite Cielto Lindo Mexican Restaurant (next door) so we were expecting it to be good.
We got there about 3:30pm and there were only a few customers but it was filling up by the time we left.
After ordering drinks, we ordered an appetizer of onion rings which they advertise as hand breaded for $10. They were hot, crispy and well-seasoned and there were enough for a party of six but I couldn’t tell if they were breaded in house but we enjoyed them.
Bev ordered the Victory Burger - Served open-faced with tomato, pickle, lettuce, and onion on a buttery brioche bun with your choice of cheese: Cheddar, Blue Cheese, Pepper Jack, or Swiss. ($11.00) which she sided with mac and cheese.
She thought her burger was very good and would order it again but the mac and cheese needed more seasonings.
I order the on-special Cheese Steak Sandwich – steak,
peppers, onions, and cheese served with fries. ($12.00)
As with the onion rings, my meal was huge and I only ate about half the sandwich and a third of the fries. The sandwich was okay but needed more seasoning and the meat was way too cooked for me (Cielto Lindo does this as well). The fries were tasty but could have been more crispy. I wouldn’t order either of them again.
The service was very good, I liked the sports bar
atmosphere and as you can see the portions were huge and we will likely go
again, especially for a Bev burger fix.

Have a
great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

That looks delicious, we will have to try it out when down that way!! Hope you and Beverly are doing well.
ReplyDeleteLarry, Thanks for the heads up on the new dining option! We'll have to give it a try. Bev's burger looks great. I find that most Mac 'n Cheese in restaurants is much too bland. When we make it, I prefer a sliced up hot dog in it and we have been known to sprinkle the dish with paprika...regular for Laurie and spicy hot for me. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your restaurant posts, and smile because I'd always order the same thing Bev orders.
ReplyDeleteWowza! They do have big servings–everything looks tasty.
