A Visit From The Kids And Grandkids

Eric’s kids, Matthew and Luca, wanted to come spend some time in East Tennessee and with us on the lake.  Matthew brought his college girlfriend and Luca brought a friend from home for a nice eight-day visit.  We’d seen Matthew recently but it’s been six years since we’ve seen Luca as our RV trips that included a visit with them kept getting canceled – covid, coach issues, etc.

Eric and Ann (who we also hadn’t seen in six years) came in for a few days as well, so we had a big get together on Sunday that also included Eliza and family.

And to add to the crowd, Cindy’s granddaughter and a friend from California were visiting with her.

It was 97F (a little cooler on the dock) which made for a great day to be in the water and they had a big time.

Then for supper, we had our favorite-for-a-dock-crowd low country boil for sixteen.  While not as sexy as dumping the food out on the table without using plates, I've found it much easier to serve it this way and eat on plates.

When we built our place on the lake 30 years ago it was specifically with these occasions in mind.

Photos can be enlarged by clicking on them and the blue words are links.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. Fabulous! How fun to have such a big crowd. I've never participated in a low country boil, but think I'd like to have a plate.

  3. The dock was a good investment you and Bev made for your family and friends. Too bad I missed it.
