A Tea Room Lunch & Campground Review For Day 3 Of Our Last 2022 RV Club Rally

Friday was a light day with lunch at the Genesis House Of Tea followed by card making for the ladies, and nothing planned for the guys.  Since we were still operating without our Aqua Hot (hot water provider) and Teddy was obviously not feeling well, we decided to just head home on Friday afternoon rather than wait until Saturday morning more on the next post).

The girls headed out to Genesis House Of Tea about 11:30 and according to my girls, it was a nice experience, even though they are not into tea rooms.  Per their site “The Historic Dent House, circa 1854, is the last standing antebellum home in Chattanooga. The 165-year-old grand home is the perfect place to experience a full four-course afternoon tea service for lunch, or relax before a fire enjoying a candle-lit dinner.”

The menu  was what would have been expected and as you can see by clicking on the link, it was a little pricy.  Bev had the tomato pie and salad and Pat had the chicken pot pie and salad and they both said the meals were good but not great.

One of our members is a serious crafter and she makes bead jewelry and cards so after the tea she put on a card making demonstration for those who wanted to attend but we had already left and Bev hated to miss it.

Campground

Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga is very convenient to I-75 and in a quiet area about 10 miles from downtown Chattanooga.  The roads and sites are gravel and everything was pretty level.  There was ample room between sites but the roads were tight and not made for today’s big rigs although they were doable. The main building contained the office and very nice clubroom which we used several times.

We didn’t use any of the other facilities but they all looked good and the utilities worked fine and they even had drinkable water.

The negatives were their cable TV and wi-fi. The cable had adequate channels but often cut out as though it was buffering.  The wi-fi was often very slow and kicked me off quite often so I used my phone as a hot spot much of the time.  It’s not a place I would say “I would really like to stay there again,” but if it’s the best in this area, I would come back – I’d give it a 3/5 star rating.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. A little pricy???? A $17 chicken pot pie in an aluminum pan? I don't think so!

  2. Larry, Laurie would love that tea room...but me, not so much. It is a great looking building though! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  3. The tea/lunch looked fun & I bet Bev was disappointed to miss out on the card making.

  4. I guess pricy is all relevant in the big scheme of things. We paid 80. dollars today for three burgers, two fries and no drinks at lunch today. I was still hungry after lunch and had to go out for a snack.
