Western RV Trip Day 31-32 – TDC Rally And Trip Home

Wednesday was seminar day for me and I attended four - Aqua Hot (our coach and water heating system), Carefree of Colorado (awnings), Kleen Tank (maintaining dirty tanks), Cummins Onan (electric generator) - and learned something important from each of them about looking after our systems.  The seminars coupled with some things the Thor factory techs fixed on our coach and a tour of the Thor factory definitely made the rally worth attending – I may even go again next year, just to socialize with some of the folks we met.

After several so-so meals, the supper of burgers, beans, and potato salad was very good.  The biggest issue with the meals was the single serving line for 260 people that took 1:15 to serve everyone - I didn't bother going to breakfast after the first morning.

Thursday was a stay at the coach day for me while the Kleen Tank guy power cleaned our gray and black tanks, which were in surprisingly good condition after five years, then the Safelite guy came to repair a chip in the windshield.  After that the ladies went back to Shipshewana for the Fall Crafters Fair.

While they were gone, the pups and I worked on planning our trip home and puttering around the coach in preparation for leaving the next day.

The theme for the rally was Hawaiian and there were several contests including best decorated coach and best decorated person, won by our friend Barb - I blew it on getting pics.  They also had a hulu dance of men dressed as female hula dancers – it was a riot.  For our last night, folks wore their Hawaiian outfits and we had a pretty decent replica of a Hawaiian meal.

We left Friday morning and traveled US-31 (pretty good shape), I-465, I-74, I-275, (good and not as good on all three but nothing bad) & I-75 (all good surface) to arrive at Whispering Hills RV Park near Georgetown, KY.  I would rate this as a higher end campground rather than an RV park as all roads and sites were gravel. 

The place was completely full and had good utilities but a useless WiFi.  There was ample room between sites but they were generally too short for the rigs in them leading to the parking in the roads.

Our final day was spent driving down I-75 which continued to be good in KY but had some very rough patches in Tennessee (I was disappointed in my state's roads).  

All-in-all, it was a very good trip and I had a good time so will now start planning the next one - but as always, it was good to be home.  Thanks for following along and leaving comments.
