Over
the past year or so, our wine club seems to have morphed into a supper club
with wine playing a very diminished role and the entrée, provided by the hosts,
becoming the star of the evening. Since
I haven’t cooked BBQ in a while, we decided it would make a good entrée and
theme, but it is beyond hard to come up with your wine pairing for the BBQ.
We provided
ABT’s (stuffed jalapenos) as an appetizer, slaw as a side, and pulled pork,
ribs, and brisket as the entrée.
The
other sides were BBQ beans and corn pudding provided by the guests.
And
guest provided Key Lime Pie for dessert.
Everything
was very good except, as your pros can tell, the ribs and brisket were a little
over cooked – my pit temperature got away from me. As usual, it was a good evening spent with
our fine friends. Thanks David for providing the photos.
Even the pups were well behaved and had a good time, plus they provided a few doggie fixes for the guests.

Have
a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

Now that sure looks like one fine feast and with good friends to top it off !
ReplyDeleteLooks so good Larry. You sure stay busy cooking. I am slowing down. Leftovers tonight; one of which is a rotisserie chicken. Hope to get my groove back soon.
ReplyDeleteDoggie fixes are everything! I think all the food looks amazing. Have you posted your rib recipe? I would love to try them this year. Thanks Larry!
ReplyDeleteLarry, Loved the ABT's, that slaw that Bev made and the ribs! Thanks to Susan for that terrific corn pudding and to Jim for that wonderful key lime pie... Best of all was the camaraderie shared by all! Take Care, Dave & Laurie
ReplyDeletePS - We also got our dog fix!
A nice day filled with delicious food, wine, and friends? Sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big wine drinker but I'll sure devour some of those ABTs, ribs and brisket!! Going to pick up my Deep South Smoker on Friday - finally getting a real insulated cooker like your Stumps :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking feast. Everything looks delicious, but that shrimp appetizer caught my eye. Have you blogged about that? Love those doggie pics. :)
ReplyDeletejalapeno, not shrimp - duh
ReplyDeleteGood times, good friends and good looking BBQ, Larry! There is nothing better that that combination.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the wine would definitely have to take a back seat to all that good food.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha ----I'd definitely be more interested in a DINING Club than a Wine Club (although I do enjoy wine).... That meal looks very similar to one you fixed for us when we visited.. YUM... Absolutely delicious... Sounds like a great time was had by all ---including the pups.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
