Breakfast Sausage Four Ways

We had a tornado pass near here last night but we're fine.

I’d mentioned in my sausage making post, that we stuffed a little of the breakfast sausage and smoked it, and the next day, I tried it for the first time for breakfast. I had it four ways: cold while I was slicing it, nuked for 30 seconds and tossed in with the eggs, nuked for 30 seconds, served on the side, and later on at room temperature.

Unfortunately the flash shot turned out best, I've ordered a new DSLR to keep up with you pros - hopefully someone can teach me how to use it.

All I can say is I wish I had stuffed it all – it was as good a piece of sausage as I’ve ever had and I’m now officially hooked on homemade stuffed sausage. I’ve always been a big fan of stuffed sausages of all kinds and now that Bev has said she liked it and I won’t have to eat it all myself – I’M IN.

I believe I may have a new menu item for my BBQ friends to consider.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Larry

  1. SO glad you all are okay. Hope you don't find any damage outside around your property... That tornado was TOO close to you.... SCARY!!!

I woke up early ---so think I'll make a big breakfast this morning. That cereal just doesn't sound appealing!

  2. I've thinking about you and Bev and am glad to know you are ok and didn't sustain any damage. Terrific way to get over a dicey evening of bad weather - an over the top breakfast!!!

  3. Yikes! Tis the season. How close did it come? Being from Kansas, I'm scared to death of those things. So unpredictable and damaging. I've been waiting on you to get that camera so you can read the manual and teach us! I actually took a good shot last night of some roast chicken. I do believe there's hope. Wish I had some of that sausage.

  4. Love a good homemade sausage - it looks fabulous! I don't miss tornadoes at ALL . . . dealt with them in Kansas and then Texas and was not sorry to get out of tornado country. Keep your emergency closet stocked!

  5. Tasty tasty post as always, Big Dude! Question, what DSLR did you go with? I'm looking to upgrade as well.

  7. Kevin - I ended up with this one - http://www.amazon.com/Canon-XS-Digital-18-55mm-Black/dp/B001CBKJGG/ref=sr_1_2?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1300984153&sr=1-2. My plan was to get the 8.1 MP version but when I decided they were gone and I knew Lea Ann bought hers on a close-out. I didn’t spend a lot of time researching but since Betsy uses the higher resolution model, I decided this would work well for me. LA – I hate to read instructions, so don’t hold your breath – I’m waiting for you. Teach us Betsy.

  8. Larry, That sausage looks really good!! I had to suffer through breakfast this morning with a couple of slices of toast, 2 eggs over easy and about 8 oz of your prime steak!! So there!! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  9. I'm not finding my DSLR photos to be enormously better than my good quality Kodak PHD (push here, dummy) with a great optical zoom. But it's always fun to get a new toy when you can.

  10. Nothing beats homemade sausage. Yours looks delicious! Glad all was OK with the tornado. We lived in Louisville during the huge one in 1974. A horrible experience we will never forget!

  11. I was so glad to get the email from you that morning. I was worried as the emergency broadcasts were tracking the tornado through Greenback.
