More From Gatlinburg - Hot Sauce

As I posted yesterday, I just spent three days in the Gatlinburg area and while the power shoppers hit nearly every store they passed, I only went into a few.  One of my stops was the Pepper Palace, which my son had suggested I visit. I didn’t know what to expect, but this place was awesome, with lots of items (mostly hot sauces) from all over the country plus the ones they make themselves. As it turns out, the Pepper Palace is headquartered in Sevier County and makes a large variety of hot sauces, salsas, BBQ sauces, and spices. They have three other stores in tourist locations, but the store in Gatlinburg is the Mother-Ship.

I went in there mainly to see if they had Fire Ant Juice, which is a hot sauce that comes highly recommended by Chris Grove at Nibble Me This. Thanks to a sales lady, I found it and learned that if I bought 5 items, I’d get the 6th one free, so I commenced to tasting their company products. Beverly was doing the same and we quickly found 5 more items that we really liked, along with a new salt mill – not too bad, I got out for $75. This is part of one wall.

Pam, Chris, David - Get ready for a hot sauce tasting in the very near future.  This is the stuff I brought home.

I couldn’t end this post without showing a shot of how Bev took her clothes on the trip.

I had mine on hangers and in a plastic bag, but I only had a few things. See how empowering it can be when you reach a point in life when you don’t really care what other people think.

Now that I'm home and on my secure network, I feel comfortable entering passwords, so I had a lot of your blogs to get caught up on.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Larry

  1. LOL at Bev's basket! And at being given a shopping goal - buy five get one free would probably cajole me into spending $75.00 on hot sauce, too. Have a great day, Larry. :)

  5. Larry, I'm always ready to try different hot sauces! I've been to a few similar stores over the years but the only one that I've seen that was comparable in size and variety, (including hot peppers), was in Ft. Worth TX. Laurie and I do agree with you on retirement. We don't much care what people think anymore. Take it or leave it! It is what it is... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  6. I travel with my things on my own hangers, laid flat in my trunk. Oh, and I have an old small case for makeup, hair and eye supplies and whatnot. I applaud Bev's packing skills.

  9. OH my, and I thought I was the only one who packed using laundry baskets. All I have to do when I get home is put the baskets in the laundry room and wash the clothes that are in them. No unpacking! But it is not recommended for flying;-)
