I posted yesterday about our dinner, but deferred a dessert discussion until today. As the baker in the family, Bev, of course made the pies. We normally use pre-made frozen pie crusts for pies, quiches, etc, but having none on hand, the baker decided to try her hand at making them. She has a pie recipe from King Arthur Flour that she likes to use which includes the crust and a super chocolaty filling. The recipe is pretty long so rather than post it, here’s the - link. The crusts were a little thicker than she wanted, but still flakey, tender and tasty.
When I was a kid, chocolate pie was my favorite dessert and I’m pretty sure Mom just filled a pie crust (her's were second to none) with pudding from a boxed mix. The one Bev made was a serious chocolate lovers delight and I loved it – actually there was some left over and I’m still loving it. The pics don’t do it justice but if you’re looking for a chocolate pie recipe, this may be the one for you.
The title photo is the first color of Spring here at almost heaven south.
Have a great day.

On second thought, I don't want you two moving any near Colorado, I'd gain 50 pounds! :-) Beautiful Pie! It's been a long time since I've had chocolate pie! yum.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pie! (and I love the pie dish) I just ordered some pasta flour from King Aurthur yesterday and was noticing their recipes. I'll have to attempt pie crust someday. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteWhen our army kids were stationed in Germany, several trips were made to Poland to buy pottery and Bev has bought several pieces here in the states, so we use alot of it - soup and serving bowls, casseroles, etc.
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite chocolate pie recipe! I made it at Thanksgiving and could have eaten the whole thing myself! Good choice!
ReplyDeleteMy chocolate pie should not even be whipsered in the presence of the one Bev made since mine is a store bought graham cracker crust, boxed chocolate pudding and a tub of cool whip. Now you know my dirty little secret but I am going to refrom and give this one a try!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that is ONE serious pie!!!
ReplyDeleteI noticed a few tips of green peeking out in a few places in my garden. Yay! Spring in on the way!!
Larry, I don't know how anyone could not love this pie! It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDang, those pieces are so tall a guy could strain his back just carrying it to the table!
ReplyDeletei just drooled on myself....
ReplyDeleteI've got to make this one- as a chocoholic it is my duty!
