We spent many weeks in Arizona. The ranch land between I-19 and US 80 south of I-10 is scenic. Love Saguaro National Monument! There are 2 sections, and we preferred the western one. It's right up against the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum...actually a small but high quality zoo with desert critters. Also Chiricahua National Monument... Bisbee is an interesting place to visit. Tombstone is all about tourists... Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is an aircraft graveyard...thousands of old and not so old military planes. Some are mothballed, others are used for spare parts and the rest are just there... It's kind of mind blowing to see. I did see or hear somewhere that tours are possible... Have fun in your 'new home' for the next few weeks! Lots of food to try out in the greater Tucson area. My Oregon daughter refers to it as White Hot Nothing, and rolls her eyes at me when I head for the Southwest deserts every year. I'm with you though, West Texas isn't my kind of desert at all.
