RVing To River Plantation - Days 12-15

On Tuesday we swapped coach tours with another couple who own a 2016 Tuscany as they wanted to see the changes from our 2013 model and so did we.  Our coach is nice inside but I considered it the low end of the 45’ models when compared to some of the others we looked at.  However, when we walked into the 2016 model, I was shocked at the difference as it was more like walking into one of the high end Tiffin’s or Newmar’s.

OURS  (All shots from the web)

Our wood is actually the color in the second photo which is lighter than in the top shot.

THEIRS

With dark wood, like the last photo, and chocolate furniture, their coach looked much richer than these shots and the thing I really liked was the improvement to the galley area which utilizes space that is just open in our coach.

That afternoon we attended a presentation by Freightliner and Thor reps where we got updates on their improvements and had a chance to ask questions.

At this point I was coughing quite a bit and attributed it to allergy issues but Wednesday morning I awoke with a full-fledged head cold which pretty well ended the rally for me as I didn’t want to expose anyone else.  So I just piled up in the coach with the dogs while the ladies participated in the events, went shopping, and brought me food.

Like the missed laser show at Stone Mountain, I missed the main thing I wanted to see here – the Tribute To Red Skelton- a person I really enjoyed watching as a kid.  The ladies said it was a very good show and that Brian Hoffman looked remarkably like Red.

Since we only had an hour and half drive home, we had a leisurely morning getting ready to leave and departed the campground around 11:45 Friday.  In all we enjoyed the three rallies and will look forward to the next ones with the Tennessee Travelers and Thor Diesel Club.

Photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  3. I know your rig is gorgeous but that new one - WOW. Don't you know that you're not allowed to get sick when you're supposed to be out having fun. Hope you feel better.

  4. Larry, Interesting comparison of the different model year coaches. Like new cars, they are focused on keeping folks coming back for newer and better. (and more expensive too I'll bet!) Too bad about your head cold...first the fireworks due to civil (uncivil) unrest and now the Red Skelton tribute. I used to love his shows too! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  5. Hope you are better Larry. Can't believe the luxury in those rigs. I loved Red Skelton too.

  6. I have to say, Larry, that your travel accommodations are much better than my parents (1) tent, (2) pop-up tent camper, and, finally, 13 foot travel trailer. And my kids wonder why I hate the great outdoors, unless it's outside my window. Sorry about your cold; I got one, too, which hit me like a ton of bricks on Sunday afternoon, and I've been sleeping about 18 hours a day. Fortunate for you that the drive home was short. Feel better.

  9. My little 24 foot motor home is so teeny tiny. Wow...both interiors are amazing! I do love the look of the dark wood, too. They are seriously beautiful homes on wheels, and so roomy!

I am sorry to hear you caught a cold and missed the Red Skelton Tribute.

  10. So sorry that you are sick. Sometimes I think that the coughing is the worst part. Too bad you missed the Red Skelton tribute. I loved watching his show as a kid....funny guy.

I am amazed at the travel accommodations...oh my goodness. That is the life of luxury...our little trailer pales in comparison....really, really pales!

Hope you are on the mend.

  11. Those rolling homes are pretty amazing. I don't think I've ever been inside one. This is not like my pop-up camper haha. Sorry you were sick and hope you are better now. Happy travels!
