Our
first full day in Pine Mountain, we went up the road a couple of miles to the Wild Animal Safari which is a 500+ acre drive-thru animal park with around 600 animals. Having done one of these places near home in
our car, I was relieved when the group decided to go on the bus for a narrated
tour and spare the car the giant slobbering that it would have received from
the animals.
The
vast majority of the animals were grazers that roamed freely through the park,
with the exceptions being three lions in a large cage and a rhino and a camel
that were in fenced areas as they are not really car friendly. Lot's of photos follow.
I was surprised when we arrived at the park and found a parking lot full of cars at a drive thru zoo, but as it turns out they had lots of cars and vans for the visitors to use for their drive through the park. Note the little ones.
It
was a fun way to spend a couple of hours as my girls head toward me on the way out.
For
dinner that night we went to Aspens Mountain Grill in downtown Pine Mountain and I forgot the camera but the food was good and the
prices were reasonable.
Later
that evening, most of the group assembled outside our coach and we spent the
evening getting caught up since last falls rally.

We have been to a few of these Safari's over the years and have enjoyed them very much.

I've never seen a napping zebra before! There was a drive-thorough zoo in New Jersey years ago, and we loved going to it. It's always fun to go see animals, no matter how old you are, but as we get older, I think we appreciate being able to sit through the tour, especially when the weather is warm.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the picture of the ??water buffalo?? laying down. Looks like he wants a big smooch. Definitely a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

ReplyDeleteLarry, We visited this drive through animal park last year and really enjoyed it...slobber and all! We spent a lot of money on food for the critters but that was the best part... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was a Safari around this area. That would be a neat experience for my grandchildren when they're a bit older.
