Leftovers Breakfast - Garage - A Senior Moment

Perhaps the best part of our Wine Club party food was a bunch of the practice biscuits still in the freezer and gravy left over from the party to which we added a couple of scrambled eggs, and picked-that-morning tomatoes with cottage cheese.  I'm pretty sure tomato and cottage cheese did not originate locally, but it still seemed like a delicious southern breakfast to me.

I've been on somewhat of a mission to clean up this dump and get rid of stuff we don't need.  Usually that means starting in the most downstream location and working backwards so I began in the upstairs garage.  I'm not sure if I'll get the house done in my lifetime, but for the first time in a few years, both cars are in the garage.  The garage is still a work in progress.

I hate to tell this on myself but it was just too funny to pass up.  I got up at my normal time and busied myself doing the normal morning activities eventually in anticipation of the noon broadcast of the UT-Florida football game.  Finally the appointed time rolled around, I went over to the SEC Network and found a show about coaches wives to be on, so I assumed the guide/programming was not updating as Bev had mentioned the other day or the game was on the alternate channel.

When it wasn't either place or any of the local channels, I decided an urgent call to Direct TV was in order.  After a few minute wait, I explained my problem to the nice young lady who answered and she said the game was supposed to be on the regular SEC Network channel but the guide was showing a different show - to which I said "that is the problem I'm having."  After a little more conversation, she said she would put me on hold and see what she could find out.  She came back shortly to assure me the game would be on the normal SEC channel on Saturday to which I replied err, ugh, I thought it was Saturday.

In spite of driving Madison to school just 4 hours earlier and watching the normal weekday shows on TV, at some point during the morning my brain decided it was Saturday.  After my profuse apologies for wasting her time she said not to worry as she thought it was Thursday.  I guess it could have been worse, at least I knew it was October.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

9/30/14 meal date

  1. This is October already!?
Purging is fun, think it is easier to purge a who house all at once than bits at a time.
    Breakfast looks yummy.

  2. That's sooo funny because it seems to be a part of life anymore. I used to say blonde moment but senior seems to be more sophisticated. lol My folks always ate tomatoes and cottage cheese. They also loved fruit on cottage cheese. Now for me the biscuits and gravy hit the spot. Good luck with the throwing out stuff.

  3. We all have senior moments, only sometimes it's worse for me because I'm also a blonde and that can make a not-so-good combination. I'm with Jim and Sandie, good luck with throwing out stuff. I have pack-rat genes...

  4. Larry, As you can imagine, that breakfast fits right into my wheelhouse! Congratulations on the you can keep your cars warm and dry as winter approaches. As for getting the days mixed up, we have both found that we're never sure what day it is. It's called complete retirement! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  5. I really like cottage cheese for breakfast. It's a weekly event for me. Congrats on that garage. I did a little more garage organization before the Bronco game started. And yup, the game came on at 11:00 Mountain time, and yup, it's Sunday. Too funny. I did that a couple months ago, walked into the office and cheerfully greeted everyone with "Happy Friday" ...... yup, it was Thurs.

  6. And by the way, I just saw a post where someone scrambled eggs and cottage cheese together ... hmmm, can't decide if that would be "DELICIOUS" like it was touted. What do you think?

  7. Ahhh---welcome to the club. I do silly things like that A LOT.... Oh Well---let's just say we have 'Senior Moments"... ha ha

Your left-over breakfast looks delicious --but I would rather see a sunny-side-up EGG on your plate... ha

  8. That happened because people only attempt to clean out their garages on Saturday (laugh). We are a big Gator family it has been a rough two years.
    Btw, love your breakfast.

  9. Funny Larry. We do the same thing all of the time. At first I would call David out on his lapses, but when I did them too, we just laughed together instead of at each other. Just part of life I guess. Good job with the garage. I am envious.

  10. Gee, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those Senior Moments. I guess I need to start clearing our garage in order to keep up with you.

  11. Im starting to have "senior" moments and Im only 44! Probably all the wine! I love what you had for breakfast! In fact I think Ill make something similar this morning!!!

  12. The worst part about those moments is when you can't play it off because someone else saw it happen like in this case. Too funny, probably made her day.

I appreciate and enjoy your comments
