2013 Western Trip - First Visit To Yellowstone

While I had made a snowmobile trip from the south entrance to Old Faithful back in our skiing days, I'd never seen the park during the summer (Pat & Bev had been as kids) so I was really looking forward to it.

Since Friday was our first full day and we expected the park to be crowded over the holiday weekend, we took a short drive up to Norris Geyser Basin and saw some wildlife along the way as drove up and back down along the Madison River.  For some reason, these photos will not go into the page center.

This big fellow was standing alone out in a large field with a stream running through it.

I made the mistake of taking the dogs so we really couldn’t visit anything, but we did orient ourselves a little.  We finished the evening with a beautiful sunset and sitting around the fire with our neighbors.

Photos best if enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. That one standing alone in the field looks like an old time "America" commercial!

  4. Larry, FYI, the only photo that can be enlarged is the first one. The ones off to the side, can't be enlarged. Why I don't know! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  5. Oh how I love Yellowstone... We saw almost everything in the 5-6 days we were there--but we didn't stop much at all.... It was go-go-go... BUT--it's my favorite place we have visited out west... I wanna go back!!!!

    Jealous of your photos.
    Have fun.

  9. That bison is well respected by his peers. I heard he is "out standing in his field"! (ha ha ha, sorry, couldn't resist)
