Maria’s Burritos & A Heads Up

A couple of weeks ago I first posted about the enchiladas and sauces made for us by Maria, which we requested after first trying her burritos - I failed to post about them but did not want to miss round two.

After trying all of the meats she uses the first time, we ordered eight of them, all made with chorizo, and began by topping them with some of Maria’s Salsa Verde and went I saw it on the plate, I decided to split it with Bev.  Sorry about the photos.

After warming, Bev topped it with her usual toppings of cheese, lettuce, and tomato plus some avocado.  Look quick the shot is blurry and I don't know why I just took one - hunger perhaps.

As expected, it was again delicious.

A HEADS UP - When I began this blog, it was intended to contain an eclectic collection of topics, but it has morphed into mostly food – I guess because we cook nearly every day so it’s easy to blog about.  Now that we plan to travel more, please expect more posts related to it and maybe some other things as well but I hope to still have lots of food, so I sure hope you foodies will keep stopping by.

Photos best if enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. I still remember some pork chili verde burritos I had in San Bernardino (back in the 70s) made in an authentic style, your's reminded me of them today. In Baja Mexico (80s) we used to have chorizo and eggs while our dog patiently waited in our jeep for our leftovers. I think the food we make and eat conjures up memories of the travels we've taken.

  2. I'm curious about the chorizo she uses. Is it the crumbly kind that looks like uncooked ground meat or the one in the casing that is already cooked that resembles a dark red hot dog and when cut up looks like small pieces of sausage? I can only find the crumbly kind in NC and I believe it's called Mexican chorizo. The one in the casing is Spanish (I think) and hard to find in the mountains.

    Wish she lived near us...

  9. I personally enjoy all of the travel posts that my favorite bloggers post, so that I can learn more about different places to visit and restaurants to try out (or avoid). I would like to include more of my travel experiences, but find that very few people come to my blog for travel advice, and more for the recipes. But travel and food are entwined to me, as part of the discovery and enjoyment of different places and cultures. I know that whatever you post, I will enjoy visiting vicariously through "Larry and Bev". Coming to the TN lakes next weekend for a 'gender announcement" party of our daughter and husband's first child! Can't wait for good times on Lake Norris!
