A Meal On The Grill

I’m still on my freezer diving kick and came across three 15 month old steaks and thanks to vacuum sealing, they were just fine.  We also had some sautéed mushrooms, and asparagus in the fridge so the menu was grilled steak topped with the schrooms, grilled asparagus, and grilled romaine dressed with bottled Caesar and shredded parmesan.

Bev likes Montreal Steak Seasoning on hers and I used the Mt. Evans Butcher's Rub that Lea Ann sent me a couple of weeks ago.

For the asparagus, we tossed it in oil and dusted with some Tuscany Blend Bev had bought in Gatlinburg at the Spice and Tea Exchange.  Here’s my plate.

The entire meal was very good, but I’m not sure steak is the right use for the Butcher's Rub.

WINTER BLONDE
As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.

The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load."

The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.

When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again.

She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door.

Again, the trucker lowers the window and again says "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"

When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light.

When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde.

He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says... "Hi, my name is Mark, it's winter in Indiana , and I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"

All photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  1. I almost opened up the old grill this weekend. It was so nice. Loved the blonde joke - didn't see the punchline coming at all - but then again, I am blonde.

  2. Sorry the rub wasn't exactly what you wanted, but everything on the plate does look scrumptious!!!

  3. I need to get one of those sealers.

My grilling days are not far away.

If steak isn't quite right for that rub, are you thinking pork, or chicken? I'll have to jump over to their web site and see what they think.

AND, did you ever stop to think that the blond may have just moved to Indiana from the Bahamas ... sheesh ... give her a break. :)

  9. This joke made me lose my load, lol.

I did some old strip steaks tonight too. Unfortunately they were from my inlaws who cleaned out their fridge while moving and they were NOT vac sealed. Not as great, but still not bad.

  10. Love the joke. As a blonde myself, I heard so many blond jokes when I was younger, it is rare to come across a new one.

Your steaks look awesome. I think I need to invest in a vacuum sealer. After a year in my freezer, they wouldn't have resembled steak. :(
