April BBQ Day

Friday was BBQ day for April and I cooked several items plus a pastrami that will be a separate post.  I did 2 brisket flats and turned one of them into burnt ends – here they are after being cut up at 180* and then finished, followed by the sliced brisket.

I also did four slabs of baby backs and this is one of them, followed by a pork butt.

I did quite a bit of chicken as Bev and daughter Wende both like to keep it in the freezer. I used a variety of rubs on them, just to use up some I’ve had around awhile.  Here's the tub of chicken (thighs, breasts, spatchcocked) along with the trimmings which were made into broth, followed by some finished shots.

I ate a little piece of brisket and a piece of chicken for dinner and they were both delicious.

My photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Almost Heaven South.

  2. Great before and after shots, Larry. As always it looks delicious. If I were able to taste one, I'd pick that sliced brisket. ;)

  9. That my friend is quite a feast. You know your way around a grill.

Can't wait to dust ours off and start cooking outside again. Only we'll be doing a lot of veggie this year. Everyone's still dieting, and quite successfully I might add. Later, Keri

  10. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has too many rubs on hand and tries to use them up!

Looks like you had a busy q day this month. It all looks good but the chicken really caught my eye. I've been in a chicken phase lately.
